Your Questions, Answered

  • Tabula Rasa Pilates is excited to announce the expansion into a second studio in Arroyo Grande! We've signed a lease for the new location at 2790 South Halcyon Rd., Suite A in Arroyo Grande (on the AG Mesa in the JJ's Market & Deli complex). We are beginning tenant improvements and plan to offer classes starting in July 2026. The commercial location is needed due to the constant, 7-day-a-week traffic at the Nipomo yurt. The new studio is only a 10-minute drive from the Nipomo yurt.

    What to Expect:

The AG studio is about the same size as the Nipomo yurt, with 6 reformer/towers and 6 chairs. Starting July 1st, both studios will hold sessions Monday through Friday, and all weekend classes will move to the new Halcyon studio. We are planning a soft opening in July, with a grand opening expected in September 2026. (Check out our 7/1/26-12/31/26 Class Schedule.)

We plan to offer an exclusive Open House in June for current members to get a sneak peek (Date and time TBD - most likely June 14, 14 or 20).  In the meantime, we need your help – please use our Summer Package Specials to sign up in advance to determine demand and help us create the ideal schedule.

Our studio thrives when classes are full and flowing. When you book early, you’re helping us shape a schedule that truly fits your needs. Full classes and waitlists show us what you love most, allowing us to offer more of it. Lock in your spot early this summer and help us build the schedule around you! 💕

  • For those with no underlying conditions or concerns, our Introductory and Level 1 Reformer classes are designed for a first timer. The instructor will introduce you to the anatomy of the Reformer, Tower, Chair, and/or Barrel and takes a slower pace (more repetitions) to thoroughly explain each exercise and ensure correct form and posture. These classes tend to integrate mostly Classical Pilates exercises.

Students who have done Pilates for years will often return to the Introductory and Level 1 classes for maintenance and ongoing self care, as these fundamental pilates classes promote spinal health, proper alignment, low back support, and provide safe core conditioning and stretching, with a focus on mindfulness and breathwork.

If the Introductory or Level 1 class times do not fit your schedule, the Level 1 & 2 classes are the best alternative. Be sure to arrive 5 minutes early to talk with the instructor about any questions or concerns you may have.

Many prefer to work with a trainer individually before delving into classes. Single or multiple private or semi-private sessions can be scheduled by contacting Vanessa at TabulaRasaPilates@gmail.com or texting (805) 556-8711.

For all new students, we are happy to meet you first and show you the studio! Please do not hesitate to reach out to schedule a time to stop by.

  • Getting started is easy - just download the Gymcatch app. Click here and you will be sent to the App Store or Google Play, depending on your device. You can also choose to the Gymcatch directly through your web browner.

  • We are going to keep it real—the only way to see change and experience long-lasting results is to be consistent with your practice. We recommend 2-4 Pilates sessions a week for optimal results. Joseph Pilates said it best, “In 10 sessions, you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions, you will see the difference, in 30 sessions, you will have a whole new body.”

    Commitment is essential.

  • Pilates is challenging! You might feel smaller muscles work and at times do smaller movements than with a gym type workout, but Pilates workouts can be just as sweaty and shaky as hitting the gym.

  • Pilates has the potential to develop an effective healing program. Our services cater to individuals with different injuries and limitations.

Before we can offer assistance, please meet with the owner of Tabula Rasa Pilates to evaluate the nature of the injury and explore how we can best serve you in your recovery. Here we may discuss the potential for private or semi-private sessions, to ensure personalized attention and support, helping facilitate & accelerate your recovery process.

  • We highly recommend utilizing Pilates alongside other forms of exercise as it helps improve balance, coordination, flexibility and core strength, amplifying the results of all your workout routines.

Pilates is a transformational practice all on its own. With a focus on mindful, controlled movement, precision, grounding, and intentional breathing, your results will ripple into every other area of your life. This practice allows you to reconnect with your entire being and tap into the mind-body connection, where you can explore deeper connections to your physical strength, self-esteem, and inner harmony.

Book a session today and explore the next-level transformation for yourself.

  • Pilates is not Physical Therapy. It is an exercise program that can sometimes resemble PT, but the scope of practice is different as Pilates instructors are not medical professionals. However, Pilates finds its way often into PT offices and often PTs will recommend Pilates after a course of physical therapy is concluded to help maintain strength, balance and flexibility.

  • It depends. The reason it depends is that chronic issues are often multifaceted and can have a physical component, a neurological component, and an emotional component. The beauty of Pilates is that it not only trains the body, but also the mind. By engaging in a Pilates practice, we feel more connected and ultimately better understand ourselves as a whole, moving and breathing being.

  • CLASS CANCELATIONS (STUDIO INITIATED)

If no one is signed up for a class ten hours before the class is scheduled to be held, the instructor reserves the right to cancel the class. Once canceled, the class will not be available to book through the online scheduling app.

WHAT IS THE MEMBER CANCELATION/REFUND POLICY?

Tabula Rasa Pilates adheres to a 3-hour cancellation policy for all class bookings AFTER and including a 9am start time. Please be aware we adhere to a 10-hour cancellation policy for all bookings PRIOR to a 9am start time, i.e. 5:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.

    • Late cancellations or no-shows will cause a forfeiture of class or session (private/semi-private).

    • Members are responsible for independently booking classes in advance via the GymCatch app or web link. They are responsible for syncing each appointment booking with their personal calendar (you will also receive a session confirmation via email at time of booking,)

    • Members are expected to acknowledge and agree to stated cancellation policies, and to independently cancel their session before the 3/10-hour time frame via the GymCatch app or web link.

    • Scheduled classes use automated refunds for bookings made using a package.

    • In alignment with our cancelation policy, if you cancel your booking through GymCatch before the stated cut-off time for your session, you will receive an automatic refund by a credit to the bundle used to make the booking. Any queries about refunds should go directly to Tabula Rasa Pilates.

  • In the Gymcatch app, once logged into your account, go to ‘My Bookings’, select the class you would like to cancel. Click on ‘Manage Bookings’ then select ‘Cancel’

  • Tabula Rasa Pilates offers membership options for those who want to make a regular, consistent commitment to their Pilates practice, but don’t want to have to remember to purchase additional classes or sessions when they’re running out. Memberships are designed to debit a set, agreed upon amount each month from your credit card or bank account.

Membership agreements are set up for individual accounts and do not allow for sub-profiles to sign up for classes. If you desire to book for multiple sub profiles, (i.e. friends and family to use your classes,) a better option is to purchase a Class Package, which allows for sub-profiles. (Please refer to RATES page for pricing and package details.)

Please note, when you sign up for a membership on GymCatch, you will see a stated term of 36 months. This is an arbitrary number; it was the maximum amount of time GymCatch allows a membership to be set up for. There is no expectation that you are signing up for 36 months. You can truly cancel your membership at any time (with requested two weeks notice,) if it is not working out for your lifestyle and/or schedule.

There is no initial sign-up fee to enter into a membership contract with us. There is no cancellation fee as long as written notice of the desired cancellation is provided a minimum two weeks in advance. If written notice is not provided at minimum two weeks in advance, the credit card may be charged for the following month. If this were to occur, you would have access to your membership sessions/classes for that following month.

Memberships are charged monthly. Your first month begins the day you sign up. (For example, if you purchase a membership on the 13th of April, it will auto renew on the 13th of May.) You will first need to decide how many classes a month will fulfill your Pilates goal. Class Memberships are offered in increments of 5 classes/month, 8 classes/month, 12 classes/month, or 25 classes per month. (30 minute classes are designed to be more intense in nature than our 50-minute classes.)

If you are unsure whether you want to commit to a membership, we suggest starting out by purchasing a class package (1, 5, 10, or 25 classes that can be used “a la carte”). Classes may be redeemed up to an entire year after initial purchase.

Tabula Rasa Pilates adheres to a 3-hour cancellation policy for all class bookings after and including a 9am start time. Please be aware we adhere to a 10-hour cancellation policy for all bookings prior to a 9am start time, i.e. 5am - 8:30am.

    • Late cancellations or no-shows will cause a forfeiture of class or private.

    • Members are responsible for independently booking classes in advance via the GymCatch app or web link. They are responsible for syncing each appointment booking with their personal calendar (you will also receive a session confirmation via email at time of booking,) Members are expected to acknowledge and agree to stated cancellation policies, and to independently cancel their session before the 3/10-hour time frame via the GymCatch app or web link.

If you have signed up for a membership and experience an urgent, unexpected situation, where you need to leave the area for an extended period of time, please work with Vanessa to discontinue your membership and explore refund options. In most cases, the membership you are in will continue during the month you give your notice, and charges will be discontinued beginning on your sign-up day the following month. Again, if you have concerns, please work with Vanessa, the owner of Tabula Rasa Pilates directly.

If you are someone who travels or leaves the area frequently, a membership might not be the best fit for you. You might want to consider purchasing a package of private sessions, semi-private sessions, or classes.

If you decide to cancel your membership, please provide us at least two (2) weeks' notice before the end of your monthly contract, and there will be no additional monthly charge at the beginning of the next monthly cycle. Monthly charge at the beginning of the next monthly cycle.

  • If all classes are fully booked, joining the waitlist allows you to be placed in the queue for the next available spot. When you join the waitlist, you are selecting that you want to attend the class should it become available again. Should you opt to add yourself to the waitlist, your package or membership will not be debited.

*Waitlist policy: If a spot opens up for a full class, you will automatically receive an email from GymCatch notifying you. It is your responsibility to follow the email prompts and move yourself from the waitlist to enroll in the class.

  • There are 6 spaces open for each group class. In Gymcatch, each class displays the number of spaces booked over the total number spaces available in the class. For example, 4/6 means four of six total spaces have been booked, and two spaces are available. 0/6 means six spaces are still available.
